Peak District : Hope Valley

I still have couple of posts about our (now felt as long gone) Peak District visit, but I had an exam in the meantime so had to focus on that too! :)
On our second full day we visited Castleton and Hope Valley, where had we had a nicer, no rainy weather, we would have hiked more on the mountains and hills as this part of the Peak has a great view point area, where you are on the top of the mountains and could have a view at both sides..but as I said had we had better weather...so with a heavily pregnant friend and loads of mud, we did not risk it! And what a great decision, because we were stuck in some torrential rain later...but just before the rain we went into a cave with lots of stalactites and stalagmites, and loads of blue stones called the 'Blue John' at Treak Cliff Cavern.
The name of these minerals; Blue John, has a funny story, I thought I'd share. So rumour has it, that when they found this semi-precious mineral, they found it in two colours - blue and yellow. Then the English took to the French and apparently in French 'Blue and Yellow' is called 'Bleu Jaune'...then with the words of our tourguide...the English being lazy learning a new language they just understood it as 'Blue Jean' hence its name worldwide now is 'Blue John' :)

Anyhow right after we got out of the cave, it started raining heavily and we had a tea made out of water collected in the caves :) but the rain was so heavy and did not seem stopping...so our boys were such gentlemen, that they ran a mile for the cars...(yes, because we parked in the wrong parking lot), so us girls could stay in the shelter and just wait for them, saving us from getting soaking wet...

And the stuff of the cave seeing us being frozen and still waiting there...with a heavily pregnant woman, they offered us some more hot tea on the house :) How nice of them! They were all very nice, funny and knowledgeable about the cave and minerals, spiced up with funny stories :)

By the time the boys arrived, we all were really hungry, so ended up in one of the cozy pubs, in Ye Old Nags Head with open fire, and it really helped us defrost coming from the grim weather outside, when we finished eating...the rain stopped as well and we went home to jump into the jacuzzi offered by the Tawny Owl Cottage where we stayed.

[In Hungarian]

A nap vegere mindenki jol megehezett es egy helyi kis kocsmaban kototunk ki, ahol nagyon finom es jo magyaros adag angol kocsmai kajat kaptunk :) majd hazaerve, a napot zarva, mindenki beugrott a kiberelt hazunkhoz tartozo jacuzziba is!
